Worldcon in Glasgow was great. I did a panel on Caribbean speculative fiction and I didn’t mess up like I worried and agonized I would. I met people whose names I had only read on their books or seen through their social media, and I hope I made a few friends. Being back in the UK again was fun. Wouldn’t mind a third visit if I can afford it in the future.
I’ve started querying again. It’s not going well, as expected, but of course it feels like the end of the world so, no need to get into that.
I am now preparing to finish my MFA after forever and I have all the notes and readings I need so far. So, of course I’m finding all sorts of other things to do. I wish that this experience had gone smoother but that’s not how it turned out.
One of those things I want to do though, reviews. I have a huge TBR, and I watched a reviewer vlog today that was 500+ books so I didn’t feel too bad. But I have to read those books and I miss reading them (even with all the writing I have to do) so I want to get back into that. Maybe I will. I have prepared a ranking system, with half points, from DNF to 5 stars that I want to carry through viewing some media.
I don’t know what 2025 will bring but I hope it will be good things.
Recommendations: Countess by Suzan Palumbo, The Nightward by RSA Garcia, The Butcher of the Forest by Premee Mohamed, and Fractal Karma by Arula Ratnakar.
